פרופ' תמר צבי הינה פרופסור בחוג ללשון העברית באוניברסיטת חיפה וראש הקתדרה לחקר מורשת יהדות מצרים ע"ש יוסף ורשלין ברדה. תחומי המחקר שלה הם בלשנות ופילולוגיה של לשונות שמיות ובפרט של הלשון העברית. בין שאר עיסוקיה פרופ' צבי חוקרת גם את תרגום רס"ג לתורה על פי כתבי יד וקטעי גניזה.
שני פרויקטים שלה בנושא רס"ג זכו למימון הקרן הלאומית למדע וקשורים בחקר הגניזה:
- הנוסח השומרוני של תרגום רס"ג לתורה (ISF 18/09, המחקר התנהל בין 2010 - 2014).
- קטעי גניזה מוקדמים של תרגום רס"ג לתורה (ISF 150/15, המחקר מתנהל בין השנים 2016 – 2019).
